Ali A. Nazari, PhD Student

Ali joined the group in Winter 2020 to pursue his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and MSc degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Qazvin Azad University, Iran, in 2006 and 2012 respectively. He was a Research Fellow in Wearable Robotics at the University of Siena, Italy, in 2017 and a Research Assistant in Soft Robotics at DePaul University, Chicago, USA, from 2018 to 2020. His research interests include medical robotics, haptics, biomechatronics, soft continuum robotics, and the vision-based control of robotic systems.

Pooyan Nayyeri, PhD Student

Pooyan has joined the group as a PhD student since September 2020. He had received his BSc degree from Semnan University in 2016 and his MSc degree from the University of Tehran in 2019, both in Mechanical Engineering. His research interests lie in the fields of robotics, control systems, and machine learning. He has contributed several projects on haptic devices, machine learning and neural networks, smart structures, and soft robotics. Currently, he is working on robotic additive manufacturing for 3D printed composite parts.

Taha Abbasi-Hashemi, MASc Student

Taha joined the group in Summer of 2018 as an undergraduate research assistant. He finished his BEng degree at Ryerson University in Biomedical Engineering in April of 2020. He is working under supervision of Dr. Zareinia on haptic controls and feedback for continuum robotics used in minimally invasive surgery for his MASc studies. His interests include minimally invasive robotic surgery, haptics, computer vision and machine learning.

Ali Babaei, MASc Student

Ali is a MASc student at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, where he is studying bio-inspired vision sensors and their applications in computer vision. Ali works on the Focal-Plane-Sensor-Processor (FPSP) camera and utilizing it for various robotic navigation tasks, including Visual Odometry and SLAM. Ali has a background in photogrammetry and the development of structured-light 3D scanning systems and his research internets lie in visual navigation for mobile robots, machine learning, and 3D scene understanding.

Tevin Devasagayam, Undergraduate RA

Tevin is a recent B.Eng graduate who worked on development of a 3DOF haptic device for interaction in a virtual environment as part of his undergraduate studies. He was previously employed as an Engineering Intern at the Department of National Defence between 2019-2020 where he performed engineering design and stress analysis in support of the RCAF. He has been the technical director of Helium Aero since 2018, leading a team of 40+ members in the design, development, and production of an autonomous VTOL platform for urban mobility. His interests are in the fields of robotics, advanced manufacturing, composite structures, and electric propulsion systems.

Albert Mao, Undergraduate RA

Albert joined the group as an undergraduate research assistant in September 2020. He is studying at Ryerson University to finish his fourth and final year of his BEng in mechatronics engineering. He was an active member of Ryerson Baja SAE, and Ryerson Varsity Fencing. Currently, Albert is working under supervision of Dr. Zareinia to research haptic controls for use in mobile robots. His interests include robotics, 3D modeling, and 3D printing.

Grady Liu, Undergraduate RA

Grady joined the group in Spring 2020 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. He is working towards finishing his Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) at Ryerson University. He was previously employed at Honda Manufacturing of Canada as a Process Engineer Intern in 2019-2020 improving the automation control systems, robot manipulators, machine vision, and CNC tool path optimization within the Machining department of the Engine Plant. He was the team captain of Ryerson SuperMileage SAE back from 2017-2018 coordinating a team of students to design and manufacture a hyper fuel-efficient vehicle capable of achieving 616 mpg. He has a high interest the field of robotics, automation in manufacturing, and automotive industries.

Hekmatullah Hashim, Undergraduate RA

Hekmat joined the group in October 2020 as an undergraduate research assistant. He is pursuing his last year of Mechanical Engineering degree while specializing in Mechatronics. He is working under supervision of Dr. Zereinia to design and develop an electric circuit as a current amplifier to control the torque of a brushless DC electric motor. His enthusiasm includes learning about automations, machine learning and robotics.
